The Foreigner, the side splitting hit comedy by Larry Shue will be presented by Enlightened Theatrics at the Grand Theatre, in Downtown Salem opening March 9th! In this era of mistrust and fear of people that look different and sound different The Foreigner reminds us of the folly of this all by allowing us to laugh at ourselves and in doing so, remember our common humanity.
Betty Meek's fishing lodge in rural Georgia is a sleepy little place - until Charlie Baker shows up, speaking a strange language and claiming to understand no English. Charlie suddenly becomes privy to all the town's secrets, with unexpected and hilarious results.
The Foreigner features an all-professional cast of actors and designer from Portland and Salem. It is directed by Salem native, Vincenzo Meduri, the Executive Artistic Director of Enlightened Theatrics.
Leading the cast as Charlie Baker, Chad Dickerson has been seen at Portland Theatres including Lakewood Theatre, Funhouse Lounge and Greenstage. He is thrilled to be in Salem where the forests are enchanted, and the theatrics enlightened! The cast also features familiar faces Adam Elliott Davis as Owen Musser, who was seen at the Grand Theatre in 1940's Radio Hour, Clyde Berry as Froggy LeSueur, who has been seen at Pentacle Theatre's Almost Maine and Spamalot, and Salem resident Jarred Sheffield as Ellard Simms. Rounding out the cast are Carol Adams of Vancouver as Betty Meeks and Chelsea Janzen of Portland as Catherine Simms who are both making their Salem Theatre debut in The Foreigner, and Colin Stephen Kane as David Lee who has been seen at Broadway Rose and Lakewood Theatre Company.
