Friday, May 10, 9pmMike Geffners Inspired Word, one of New Yorks most popular indie performance series, presents Speak Up Live: A Poetry & Spoken Word Experience.Hosted by Emmy-winning filmmaker, pioneering UN/NGO Storyteller/Artist Curator, 2x TEDx Speaker Lisa Russell, the night includes poets/spoken word artists Roxy Azari, equal parts writer and activist, who performed at the United Nations during General Assembly Week this year and was featured on PBS; Poetic Boy D, a picture painting storyteller who will plant powerful images and lingering memories; and Kevin Becker, who will dazzle you with verbal gymnastics, uniquely alliterative wordplay and a rapid-fire, almost breathless delivery.Founded/Produced by former journalist Mike Geffner, InspiredWordNYC.com began in Jan. 2010.$15 online, $20 at the door + 2 beverage minimum
