Barter Theatre presents the world premiere of a new musical set in Tennessee, during one of the most important turning points in American history. Based on true events, 'Winter Wheat' tells the story of Tennessee's pivotal role in the passing of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.
THE JOSHUA PLANT Takes Top Honors at 2014 Tabby Awards; Winners Announced!

The Joshua Plant, which made its world premiere at CAT Theatre in January, took top honors at CAT's 2014 Tabby Awards, held Sunday, July 20. Written by Amy Berlin and P. Ann Bucci, The Joshua Plant was the winner of CAT's 50th Anniversary Original Play contest and was chosen from dozens of entries. The Joshua Plant began as a ten-minute play that was a finalist in the 2005 Chicago Dramatist Fall Ten Minute Workshop. Since then, it has had three developmental readings with Phoenix Theatre and a staged reading at the Pandora Festival, as well as a reading at the Richmond Public Library as part of the Richmond Writer's series.

The feuding fairies and merry mechanicals at Synetic Theater have been invited by Instituto Chihuahuense de La Cultura, headed by Fermin Gutierrez Galindo, to perform at the 10th edition of Festival Internacional. The company's award-winning wordless Shakespeare production will be performed at Teatro De Los Heros in Chihuahua on August 13 at 8 pm and at Teatro Victor Hugo Rascon Banda in Juarez on August 15 at 7 pm.

After holding extensive interviews with area residents and conducting further research, Schorr has now written a powerful musical that will receive its world premiere in VSC's 2015-16 season.

The Alden and the McLean Community Center's (MCC) popular Summer Sunday Concerts in the Park series will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, at McLean Central Park. The hour- to two hour-long concerts are held in the gazebo, and food and beverages are available for purchase.
