TheatreLAB's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH Opens Tonight

By:

TheatreLAB and Spin, Spit, & Swear's production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, opens tonight, October 30th, at the show's venue, TheatreLAB's new space, The Basement.

All tickets purchased are still valid, and ticket holders will be contacted directly to adjust their reservation. For a full updated performance schedule, visit www.theatrelabrva.com.

From Managing Director, Annie Colpitts: "The city has been incredibly cooperative with our efforts to get the venue ready for an audience, but when it comes to large scale renovation projects, you hit obstacles you could have never seen coming. None of these obstacles are insurmountable, but each one adds a few days on to your timeline. In order to host an audience, we need an extra week to finalize some improvements and have them approved by the city."

From Hedwig: "Guten Tag, Richmond! Ich bin auf der Straße gehalten , aber ich werde in River City am 30. Oktober sein!" ["Good day, Richmond! I am kept on the road, but I will be in River City on October 30th!"] From Hedwig's agent, Phyllis Stein: "We must delay our scheduled arrival in Richmond until October 30, due to unexpected bookings in both Dildo, and Spread Eagle, Newfoundland, where we have newly found a surprising following, playing to approximately 20 to 25 Newfies across a 6 show run! We anticipate a prompt arrival at the intersection of Broad St. and Boulevard in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, October 30th. We will make the 38 hour trip by bus and plan to take the journey in a straight shot, though we may play a stop or two to on the Jersey Turnpike to cover the costs of the trip."

Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be directed by Maggie Roop with musical direction by Anthony Smith, starring Matt Shofner as Hedwig Schmidt and Bianca Bryan as Yitzhak, and will be performed at The Basement (300 East Broad Street), from tonight, October 30th to November 29th.
