CAT Theatre's 51st season will open with Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure which runs October 24 through November 8, 2014. Adapted by Steven Dietz, it is based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and was the winner of the 2007 Edgar Award for Best Mystery Play.

Firehouse Theatre welcomes Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates as its new Education and Community Outreach Director. Dr. Pettiford-Wates currently teaches in the Graduate MFA Pedagogy Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. She also serves as the Artistic Director and Conceptualist for The Conciliation Project, Richmond's social justice theatre company which aims to promote, through active and challenging dramatic work, open and honest dialogue about racism and oppression in America.

InstaPlay is a new art form, never before seen here in Richmond. This talented troupe has been rehearsing the skills required to improvise a full length play for nearly a year under the tutelage of AMY BERLIN, an award-winning, Richmond-based improviser, actress, director, and playwright. In a risky and bold move, Amy has formed a troupe combining experienced improvisers with classically trained actors and actresses to create a group able to instantly create new plays on the spot. These plays may be comedies, dramas, mysteries, or a mixture, but they all will contain the wit and immediacy of improvisation and the honesty and emotions of a scripted play.

She's Shirley Jones, and she is appearing at Barter Theatre for one night only, Thursday November 13th. Following the performance, top-level ticket holders can also meet Shirley Jones at an exclusive reception at The Martha Washington Hotel and Spa. Tickets range from $125 for a basic to a $400 premiere ticket with a chance to meet Shirley one-on-one. All proceeds benefit Barter's Annual Fund for Artistic Excellence.
