Chief Bromden - The narrator of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Chief Bromden is the son of the chief of the Columbia Indians and a white woman. He suffers from paranoia and hallucinations, has received multiple electroshock treatments, and has been in the hospital for ten years, longer than any other patient in the ward. Bromden sees modern society as a huge, oppressive conglomeration that he calls the Combine and the hospital as a place meant to fix people who do not conform. Bromden chronicles the story of the mental ward while developing his perceptual abilities and regaining a sense of himself as an individual.
Auditions will be held by APPOINTMENT ONLY: Monday December 9th at 7:30 pm at The Attic Ensemble, located in the Historic Barrow Mansion, 83 Wayne Street, Jersey City. Located two blocks from Grove St PATH Station. To make an appointment or for more information, please email

THE STORY:

Before it was adapted into an Oscar-winning movie, Ken Kesey's novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was made into a Tony-winning stage play. Randle P. McMurphy thinks he's pulled a fast one by feigning insanity to get out of a prison sentence. But instead of resting up at the state mental hospital, McMurphy finds himself going toe-to-toe with Nurse Ratched, who dominates the ward with a violence that he can't fight with his fists. The ensuing battle of wills between nurse and patient lights up the stage in this adaptation by Dale Wasserman (Man of La Mancha).

Tough, touching and tragic, this American classic advocates poignantly for the dignity of every single person, no matter how crazy.
