Dreamcatcher to Present RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN
Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional theatre in residence at Oakes Center in Summit, is producing the New Jersey premiere of Gina Gionfriddo's "Rapture, Blister, Burn." This smart new comedy, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist, recently played Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons. "Rapture, Blister, Burn" plays April 16 through May 3, 2015, with talkbacks following the April 19 and April 26matinees.
In this comedy about family, equality and twenty-first century gender politics, Catherine and Gwen chose opposite paths after grad school. Catherine built a career as a powerful academic, while Gwen built a home with her husband and children. Decades later, unfulfilled in opposite ways, each woman covets the other's life, commencing a dangerous game of musical chairs-the prize being Gwen's husband. When "Rapture, Blister, Burn" played at Playwrights Horizons in 2012 The New York Times called it an "intensely smart, immensely funny new play."
The production is directed by David Christopher (Cranford) and features Dreamcatcher ensemble members Nicole Callender (West Orange), Harry Patrick Christian (Montclair), Laura Ekstrand (Livingston), Noreen Farley (Clinton) and Jessica O'Hara-Baker (Manhattan).
"Rapture, Blister, Burn" will run at Dreamcatcher from Thursday, April 16 through Sunday, May 3, 2015. Performances are Thursday, Fridayand Saturday nights at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm.
