For more than 20 years, the COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD has triumphed on the world stage with the incandescent solo Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune and with its spirited Sacre du printemps. And as if the gift of presenting these masterpieces once again wasn’t enough, she is augmenting their savage power with the accompaniment of some 70 musicians from the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal, under the direction of Louis Lavigueur. In the first piece, performed to the music of Debussy, the brilliant choreographer is inspired by the spirit of Nijinsky to give substance to this mythical animal aroused by nymphs, beings represented by graceful beams of light. In the second she choreographs 12 thrilling solos, combining the energy of her vigorous dance with Stravinsky’s dynamic score, celebrating an explosion of life. Magnificent.
