The year 2015 coincides with two significant events of the 20th century : the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, and the centenary of the Armenian genocide. To underscore that tragic moment in the history of Armenia, the renowned composer Krzysztof Penderecki will be conducting a work written especially for the occasion. For this concert, rising as it does from the depths of darkness in the soundscape of Veljo Tormis to scores by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Bernstein, the music turns towards the light, bearing with it hope and peace.
