The Ordway Announces 2013-2014 Season Schedule

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts unveiled its 2013-2014 performance season this evening during its annual Season Announcement Event. The diverse schedule will offer a full array of extraordinary theatrical, music and dance experiences: from the Ordway co-produced Miss Saigon, an enchanting production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz, and a thrilling look at extreme competition in Bring It On: The Musical, to the 2012 Tony Award-winner for Best Revival of a Musical, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. In addition, the season includes a very special appearance of Blue Man Group, the return of the ever popular Broadway Songbook Series and a full line up of World Music & Dance performances.

Stages Theatre Company (STC) presents "Owl Moon" a unique production featuring a story completely told through movement and dance. Based on the 1988 Caldecott Medal book by Jane Yolen, this world premiere production focuses on a mystical, magical winter wonderland where a father and child take a walk in the woods hoping to spot an owl and are surprised by what they find.

History Theatre is producing the world premiere of a new play by Lee Blessing about Harry Blackmun and Warren Burger, who grew up together in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood of St. Paul and both ended up as U. The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its world premiere of the bittersweet romance The Primrose Path by Crispin Whittell based upon the novel Home of the Gentry by Ivan Turgenev. The production will be directed by Roger Rees and will feature actors Kyle Fabel (Broadway: The Farnsworth Invention; Off-Broadway: A Free Man of Color) as Theodore Lavretsky, Suzy Kohane (Acadia Repertory Theatre; University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program) as Liza and Sally Wingert (Broadway/West End, London: La Bete; Guthrie: Other Desert Cities, Appomattox) as Maria.

The 30th anniversary season at Stages Theatre Company (STC) showcases nine productions for children and young adults, which includes three world premiere productions. The 2013-14 season promises to give audiences new experiences unlike ever before. In 'The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs' audiences will decide the verdict and how the show ends. The last production on the season, 'The Dandelion Seed' allows parents and children to participate in the performance with hands-on interaction geared for ages 18 months to three-years-old.

As one of the twenty largest professional regional theatres in the U.S., Children's Theatre Company is the national leader in creating work for young audiences, ages two through eighteen. The 2013-2014 Season will be among the most innovative with three world premieres, two extraordinary guest companies, a new preschool piece and a Broadway musical. The season will also include a beloved classic never before seen at CTC and a Philip Pullman masterpiece brought to the stage for the first time. The Wong Kids in The Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go! by Lloyd Suh is CTC's first ever sci-fi anime inspired production. This world premiere will be co-produced with the Ma- Yi Theater Company and run at CTC before playing in New York.

Northrop PAC Selected for Innovation Lab for the Performing Arts, Round 8

Northrop Performing Arts Center, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Redmoon Theater and The Theater Offensive have been selected to participate in Round 8 of the Innovation Lab for the Performing Arts, an intensive training and immersion program that supports prototyping of innovations at nonprofit theater, dance, jazz and presenting organizations. Designed and managed by EmcArts, the Innovation Lab is funded by a generous $1.6 million grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF).

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE Will Close the Guthrie Season

The Guthrie today announced that it will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1813 publication of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice with a summer production on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. The final show of the Guthrie's own 50th anniversary season, Pride and Prejudice will begin previews on July 6, with an opening night of July 12, and will run through August 31.

The Minneapolis City Council today unanimously endorsed a comprehensive plan recognizing the Hennepin Cultural District in downtown Minneapolis. The District is centered around a vibrant and lively arts-driven stretch of Hennepin Avenue and adjacent streets that encompasses cultural institutions, educational organizations and businesses, punctuated by historic theatres, the Central Library, Walker Art Center and the incredible natural spaces at the either end-the Mississippi Riverfront and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
