Northrop Summer Music Festival 2013 (NSMF) on Northrop Plaza. A free, outdoor summer concert series, NSMF features well-known local musicians and DJs, alongside emerging U of M student bands. Curated by a Northrop Student Advisory Committee, Northrop, and Sue McLean and Associates, the series presents a sampling of musical genres including hip-hop, dance music, singer-songwriter, folk, Latin, and spoken word.

Concerts are held on selected Wednesdays at noon and Fridays at 7:00 pm during June and July. Free food and beverages will be featured throughout the series from various local vendors.

Student Advisory Committee Member Rah Riley says of the festival, "The NSMF Student Advisory Committee is a group of students dedicated to and passionate about bringing local music, for free, to our fellow students and greater Twin Cities community. The NSMF is a series filled with good vibes, a lot of energy, and the celebration of sharing music and dance."
