Guthrie Theater Appoints Danielle St. Germain-Gordon as New Director of Development

By:

Guthrie Theater director Joe Dowling today announced the appointment of Danielle St. Germain-Gordon as the theater's Director of Development. St. Germain-Gordon comes to the Guthrie from Arena Stage in Washington, DC, where she served as Chief Development Officer since 2011. Prior to that, she spent three years with American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in Washington, DC, most recently as Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

"Danielle St. Germain-Gordon brings an impressive background and remarkable energy to the Guthrie's vital development work," says Dowling. "Her passion for the arts and her experience in working with all aspects of nonprofit funding will bring a dynamic presence to our theater in the crucial years to come."

St. Germain-Gordon will oversee the Guthrie's relationship with its multifaceted donor community and fundraising efforts including individual and community donations, institutional giving and corporate giving. She will join the Guthrie staff on July 15.

While serving as Arena Stage's Chief Development Officer, St. Germain-Gordon was also an adjunct professor at Washington's American University. Her past work includes eight years at Washington's Shakespeare Theatre Company, where she served as Associate Director of Development after a period as Director of Individual Giving. She serves as Commissioner of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and is a board member of HELP (Haitian Education Leadership Project). She graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

The GUTHRIE THEATER (Joe Dowling, Director) was founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963 and is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. The Tony Award-winning Guthrie Theater is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. With annual attendance of nearly 500,000 people, the Guthrie Theater presents a mix of classic plays and contemporary work on its three stages. Under the artistic leadership of Joe Dowling since 1995, the Guthrie continues to set a national standard for excellence in theatrical production and performance. In 2006, the Guthrie opened its new home on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie Theater houses three state-of-the-art stages, production facilities, classrooms and dramatic public lobbies. www.guthrietheater.org
