Ordway Center Hosts SOUND OF MUSIC Sing-a-Long Today

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts previously announced that Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music would return to the Ordway for a third year in a row. Today, Mar. 22, the Ordway will present two screenings of the popular film at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $27.

My tiny companion, Mia (she's 5-years-old) is sitting in a chair, staring intently at the stage-as she does when she's completely engaged-watching Chanhassen Dinner Theatre's regional premiere of THE LITTLE MERMAID. And just like that, I knew that no matter how I felt, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre's THE LITTLE MERMAID was a success.

WCT will present 'The Drowsy Chaperone' March 21-30 - a much beloved 'musical within a comedy' during it's long run on Broadway and at the Ordway here in Minnesota, which won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score in 2006. It's a parody of musical comedy of the 1920s - and is by far the funniest musical we have ever seen!

Madeleine George's magical and deeply moving play about communication, commitment, and connection is coming to the People's Center in March. The former 13P playwright's contemporary tale starring Brodie, a gifted linguist and single-mom-to-be-by-choice contemplates tough questions when Brodie finds that the baby she's carrying will never be able to communicate via language. Failing to receive comfort from her young girlfriend, she finds connection in unlikely new friends--namely an ape at her local zoo, and Cleva--the last known speaker of a dying language. Precious Little will be produced at the People's Center Theatre on the West Bank of Minneapolis, and runs today, March 21st-30th.

The show tells the story of the creation of Superman by Jerry Siegel with illustrator Joe Shuster, and the rise of this superhero to iconic status during the 1930s and 40s. History Theatre's March repertoire will put two plays on stage which each explore the experiences of soldiers during and after two of America's most recent wars. The Things They Carried by Worthington native Tim O'Brien in the award winning novel about the Vietnam War seen through the eyes of an American soldier. It is being adapted for the stage by local storyteller Jim Stowell and performed as a one-man show by Stephen D'Ambrose, directed by Leah Cooper.
