On May 17th, twenty students from the Hennepin Theatre Trust's SpotLight Musical Theatre Program will audition for a chance to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. The two finalists will be announced at the SpotLight Musical Theatre Awards on June 14th.

The two students will compete at the National High School Theatre Awards at the Marquis Theatre, in New York, on June 28th. They will also receive a trip to New York, courtesy of the Trust and Sun Country Airlines, which includes master classes and private coaching from theatre professionals plus a chance to earn $10,000 to further their education, as well as eligibility for four-year merit and need-based scholarship assistance to attend the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Department of Drama, Undergraduate at New Studio on Broadway: Music Theatre and Acting, contingent upon acceptance into the program.

The auditions on May 17th will be at the Hennepin Stages Theatre from 7 pm to 9 pm. However, it is a non-ticketed private event open to Hennepin Theatre Trust Donors, supporters, SpotLight participants and their families. The SpotLight Musical Theatre Program, Hennepin Theatre Trust's flagship educational initiative, celebrates students who participate and excel in their high school musical.
