By Henrik Ibsen, adapted by Amy Herzog Directed by Ali Tallman Nov. 13-29, 2026 at Island City Stage
A small-town doctor makes a discovery that should make him a hero: the water is poisoned. Instead, it makes him an enemy. As the truth threatens to tank the local economy, the town turns on the one person trying to save it. Originally written in 1882, Ibsen's fiery drama (freshly adapted by Amy Herzog for its 2024 Broadway run) feels ripped from this morning's headlines — a gripping look at what happens when facts and self-interest collide. Part of NCP's America at 250 season, exploring what holds a community together when it's pushed apart.
