Benjamin McFadden Proudly Presents The World-Premiere Adaptation of
H.G. Wells' THE TIME MACHINE
“You are cordially invited to a scientific achievement beyond which has never been attempted in the modern world.”
THE TIME MACHINE is a modern, gender-bent reimagining of the classic science fiction story. Set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London, an author receives an anonymous invitation to a display of scientific achievement beyond which has never been attempted in the modern world. When she travels outside the city to a glorious mansion, she finds herself in a mysterious setting orchestrated by one only referred to as The Time Traveler.
The Time Traveler recounts her story of traveling deep into the future in search of a better world. She discovers a beautiful garden of eden populated by a race of tiny beings called the Eloi. When her machine goes missing, she’s forced to dig deeper into this new world. It’s only when she encounters an Eloi named Weena that she starts to uncover the ugly underbelly of this world: pale, hideous creatures living underground, called Morlocks.
Directed by Benjamin McFadden, artistic director of 14/48 Hollywood, with Puppet Design and Direction by Gregory-Award-winning puppeteer Ben Burris, this subversive take on THE TIME MACHINE uses the foundation set forth by Wells to reexamine current conversations around class, wealth disparity, gender, and control.
Featuring SAG-Award-winning actor Jessica Erin Martin, from the Academy-award-winning movie Oppenheimer, as The Time Traveler.
Inspired by 14/48 Hollywood's mission to create theater that is affordable and accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation, this production will be completely PAY WHAT YOU CAN.
