Big Maestro & Little Cello Boy is a dark slapstick exploration of shame, ambition, and horsehair created and performed by Alex Derderian and Peter Levine. In this World Premiere directed by physical theater artist and clown Dean Evans, a prestigious public master class devolves into a twisted ritual of public humiliation as the brilliant but unhinged maestro Caucus strips a dedicated classical cellist down to his bare essentials through increasingly bizarre tests of devotion to his art. With grotesque absurdity, the piece forces both cellist and audience to question whether a life consumed by artistic ambition is truly a life worth living. The production runs as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
