NOV 18 SHOWCASE - Headlining writer: Stacey Winn shares her new solo work, Openings. "It’s hard to make friends when you’re in the Lord’s Army! As part of a full-length autobiographical play currently under development, Stacey Winn's selection from her work explores the fantastical inner world of a child born into fundamentalist Christianity." Featuring: WHAT IS Placer Rep's NEW WORKS SHOWCASE? A NEW WORK - This is your chance to experience a new work in progress before it premieres, and contribute to its development. LIVELY - On-script performances by actors (rehearsed stage readings and/or script-in-hand performances) are far more lively than you might think. IMAGINE - Our imagination paints the story as the paid performers bring the work to life with their voices and characterizations. MAKE A DIFFERENCE - This is your chance to support local talent and make a difference in the development of a new work. IF YOU ARE A WRITER - We encourage playwrights, screen writers, novelists, short-story writers and poets to submit their works for consideration for the SHOWCASE (or one of our other programs that supports new works: VAPA Academy, School Tours, Collaboration LAB, Main Season). Stacey Winn
Performer / Playwright
A native Sacramentan, Stacey studied Theater & Renaissance Drama at UC Berkeley. In the SF Bay Area, she performed improv and sketch comedy with Killing my Lobster, Synergy Theatre and Trapped in a Rumor, and acted with Contra Costa Civic Theater, Pittsburg Theater Company and Playground Theater. Her written works were staged by the San Francisco Olympians Festival, the ShortLived Play Festival, and, most recently, the Marsh in SF. In the Sacramento metro area, she performed with Main Street Theatre Works, American River College, and City Theatre. Some of her favorite prior roles include Abigail in The Crucible, Fred in Once Upon a Mattress, Poopay in Communicating Doors, and Alice in You Can’t Take it With You. Most recently, she received audience acclaim and a standing ovation for her performance of Lady Macbeth in Placer Rep's October 2024 production of Macbeth.
