A NEW WORK

This is your chance to experience a new work in progress before it premieres and contribute to its development.

LIVELY STAGE READING

On-script performances by quality actors are lively, often with a bit of blocking and representative costume pieces. Patrons' imaginations paint the production elements as the performers and director bring the work to life with their voices and characterizations.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE & NETWORK

This is your chance to support local talent and make a difference in the development of a new work. Post-performance and Q&A/Feedback, is an opportunity to meet & greet/network with actors, writers, directors, patrons and Placer Rep staff.

Season 2025-2026 - JULY 14 New Works Showcase offering:

  • July 14 @ 7 p.m. “Pretty Good Wife” - An existential comedic one-act by playwright Scott Charles. 
    • Born in the Midwest and relocated to Sacramento in the 1980s, Scott lives a 
      happy life with his wife and his dog. His novel, a Wishing Shelf Awards 
      Finalist and NCPA cover award winner, “The Illustrated Hen,” is available on 
      Amazon.com. He is the author of numerous plays, including “Dinners With Augie.” Additional works are available on his website at www.libernetics.com.

Playwright
Scott Charles was born in the Midwest and relocated to Sacramento, California in the 1980s. He lives a happy life with his wife and his dog. He has just released a novel, Wishing Shelf Awards Finalist and NCPA cover award winner “The Illustrated Hen,” which is available on Amazon.com. He is also the author of several plays, including “Dinners With Augie.” You can see some of his other works on his website at www.libernetics.com
Caleb Purciel

Caleb Purciel studied theater at Folsom Lake College and has previously performed in stage plays such as Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest and Seussical the Musical with area theaters like Falcon Eye Theater, Sutter Street Theatre and Freefall Stage.
John Cablao
Lenny
“Pretty Good Wife” is John’s first performance opportunity with Placer Repertory Theatre. He recently played the role of Valere in American River College’s production of The Miser. He’s had the pleasure of working with the companies Teatro Espejo and Interactive Entertainment. He’s a trained actor and classical vocalist and has a showcase of previous works on his YouTube channel (/johncablaomixtape).
T.S. Forsyth
Host, Facilitator
MFA Dramatic Arts, MS Management & Leadership, critically acclaimed professional director / playwright / performer / university educator, she hosts and facilitates New Works Showcase. Prior Productions and New Works on which Forsyth worked performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, Dallas Theatre Center, San Diego Repertory Theater and famous venues in Europe, Asia and South America, and received many awards. While with Placer Rep, her projects have won Broadway World Awards, the Gloria Burt Fellowship and Gold Country Media awards. Member: The Dramatists Guild (DGA), Stage Directors & Choreographers union (SDC), and The Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).
