IN THE BEGINNING is a world-premiere, full-length play revealing Eve’s – the first woman’s – untold Genesis story and her search for purpose in an already perfect world. Through cosmic family comedy, hand puppets, and heartfelt inquiry, the play explores the world’s first heroes under God’s infinite power and the human condition.
STARRING:
Landon Reid as GOD
Giorgio Rossini as ADAM
Laurel Preston as EVE
In the beginning, God creates the perfect nursery for His children: the Garden. When He forms Eve, His masterpiece is finally complete, and all He has made is good.
As His children grow and learn from Him, Eve questions her Father, searching for purpose beyond obedience – a reason to live. God tests Adam and Eve to make good choices, but promises they are perfect no matter what they choose. Eve doesn’t understand how a bad choice can be part of God’s marvelous plans, and deliberately chooses against her Father.
God’s consequence sends Adam and Eve to live out in the Desert, to survive on their own with nothing but what their Father had taught them. God’s perfect world now feels bad, and Father is nowhere to be seen or heard.
Adam and Eve discover life’s firsts in marriage, sex, parenthood, grief, and death – each chapter in God’s perfectly designed human experience challenged by choices. They must learn how to lean on one another to survive and try to make a bad world good to live in. But even living is a choice.
