Hattie Winston and Emily Yancy are featured in a dramatic play reading of Emily Mann's "Having Our Say" under the direction of Fay Hauser-Price, one performance only, at 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 13 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Presented by Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center and the African Grove Institute for the Arts in association with UCLA Beloved Community Initiative.
Based on the book "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years," Emily Mann's stage adaptation premiered at the McCarter Theatre where she was artistic director, and ran for 9 months on Broadway in 1995 with Gloria Foster and Mary Alice in the leads. Hattie Winston, Emily Yancy and Fay Hauser-Price are veterans of theatre, music, film and television with extensive credits as actors, singers, writers, producers, and directors.
