Ghostlight at Rogue Machine Theatre

Dates: 7/6/2026 - 7/12/2026

📍 Theatre:
Rogue Machine Theatre

Ghostlight, with book by Chandler Patton and music and lyrics by Steven James Schmidt, is a new musical premiering as part of the 2026 SheLA Summer Theater Festival at Rogue Machine Theatre in West Hollywood. After bombing her audition for a revival of a show about 19th-century Pre-Raphaelite poet-painters Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal, Leah and her best friend Jen are ready to give up on their dreams — until two cast members fall ill and they get the chance to step in. As they rehearse alongside the original cast, the line between reality and theatricality begins to blur, forcing them to confront truths about their characters, themselves, and the pasts that haunt them. SheLA, the Los Angeles branch of SheNYC Arts, presents this production as part of its annual festival highlighting works by West Coast women, trans, and non-binary writers.

Chandler Patton
Book
Chandler Patton prefers writing about historical figures...but if you forced her to write a bio, she’d have to say that she’s a playwright / dramaturg / actor / vocalist / fan of slashes, with a deep passion for salvaging historical stories. She’s spent the last five years traveling the country; sleeping on dusty roads and backpacking steep mountainsides, in search of meaningful communion with nature—to feel firsthand the beauty and terror of this land...and its history.
