CATALINA JAZZ CLUB presents EILEEN BARNETT in “IT’S BY BIRTHDAY AND I’LL SING IF I WANT TO” on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 8:30PM. Eileen is celebrating her birthday doing what she loves best—singing! She will perform an evening of songs by Sondheim, Rogers and Hart and Hammerstein, Randy Newman, Jerome Kern, Billy Barnes, Maury Yeston, Jacques Brel, and more. “Superb Eileen Barnett performs...with such feeling and wistfulness that we are moved to tears” LA Times. “...consummate singer, Eileen Barnett...is down to earth, warm and very funny...a class act whether on a theatre or night club stage, she holds the audience entranced...in the palm of her hand....” Broadway World.

Eileen started working in Chicago, her home town, at the age of 15 and by the time she was 16 she played the role of Maria in WEST SIDE STORY, in a production with Dorothy Dandridge. She began her Broadway career as a pit singer in Sondheim’s COMPAMY. She continued to work in New York and then moved to Los Angeles, but Broadway called and she moved back to New York to star in Tommy Tune’s Tony Award winning musical, NINE. She has had a long and varied career in the theatre, playing roles from Aldonza in MAN OF LA MANCHA to Fosca in Stephen Sondheim’s PASSION. Her theatre appearances have taken her to stages in New York, Los Angeles and all over the country. Television has also been a big part of Eileen’s career. Most recently she has guest starred on HACKS, CRIMINAL MINDS, MATLOCK, 9-1-1, S.W.A.T., and IMPERFECT WOMEN. She was also a regular on the soap opera DAYS OF OUR LIVES where she played a resident villain. She lives in Los Angeles with her three adorable dogs.
Michael Collum, Musical Director
Michael Collum is a Los Angeles-based pianist and music director. Michael received the 2025 Broadway World Cabaret Award for Music Direction for his work on The Dream that I See at the Green Room 42 with Ava Nicole Frances (NYC). Michael music directed Eileen Barnett’s You Must Believe in Spring at CV Rep (Cathedral City) and at Feinstein’s at Vitello’s (L.A.); Richard Skipper Celebrates at Revolution Stage (Palm Springs); Charlo Crossley’s one-woman show at Catalina’s Jazz Club (L.A.); and, for many years, was one of the music directors for Our Name is Barbra, Clifford Bell’s annual fundraiser for Project Angel Food. Michael also co-music directed (with Brad Ellis) the Broadway World award-winning Live, Laugh, Love, A Sondheim Celebration (Los Angeles Musical Theater Guild, El Portal Theater, LA.) Michael is a family law attorney by day.
Kirsten Chandler, Director
Kirsten has served at the helm as director of many productions across the Southland, including 5 Star Theatricals’ Addams Family and Shrek, PVPA’s The Who’s Tommy, Panic Productions’ Inspecting Carol (Broadway World nomination), SDMT’s Crazy for You, A Christmas Story, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and South Pacific, Cabrillo Music Theatre’s Damn Yankees and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (choreographer), Musical Theatre Guild’s Grey Gardens (Broadway World Nomination), Sugar, Triumph of Love, Chess and Little Women and AMDA’s Urinetown, [title of show], Ghost, Spelling Bee, Spring Awakening, and Guys and Dolls. Kirsten is a proud principal faculty member at AMDA Los Angeles, an even prouder wife to Stan, and proudest mom to two amazing young men, Addie and Tucker.
