NNT Drama Studio was established in April 2005 with the objective of training the next generation of theatre actors.The programme is led by a faculty of experts in theatrical education and prominent theatre makers from inside and out side of Japan.
This summer, students entered the Studio in 2017 will appear on the stage of New National Theatre Tokyo for the very first time.
They will present the Reading Performance of "Himeyuri", focusing on the Himeyuri Students Corps mobilized in the Battle of Okinawa during World War II. The play was commissioned by NNT Drama Studio in 2016, and became a talking point as a work that we should hand down from generation to generation.
