Exactly 100 years after the sinking of the most famous ship of all time, Belfast Operatic Company return to the Grand Opera House with Titanic the Musical.

It is the show they said couldn’t be done. How can you sing and dance about a tragedy? But Maury Yeston and Peter Stone’s peers awarded Titanic a clean sweep of the 1997 Tony awards.

A little more than 85 years after the disaster, Titanic finally arrived in triumph in New York. It was a similar tale at the Grand Opera House in May 2005 when Belfast Operatic Company staged the Irish premiere of the musical.

The week-long run thrilled audiences and critics alike. At the Association of Irish Musical Societies annual awards ceremony, Titanic was named Best Overall Show, with awards for Best Director, Best Musical Director, Best Chorus and Best Male Singer.

Many of the original award-winning Belfast cast are to be re-united in April 2012, on the centenary of the great ship’s sinking. With a beautiful musical score, Titanic the Musical is a powerful and dramatictheatre experience.

It faithfully retells the story of the real life characters onboard RMS Titanic’s maiden voyage, recalling their exciting and emotional stories of hope, love and dreams, little knowing the tragic fate that awaits them.

This is a non-professional production. Presented by third parties and not the Grand Opera House. Any enquiries regarding terms and conditions should be made directly to Tina McVeigh, Belfast Operatic Company, on info@belfastoperatic.org
