Breakdown

The Believers is a world premiere of a new play that begins the night before the Democratic Primary in New York City. Chris Connor has spent two grueling years working to get Gene Johnson elected to the City Council. Chris now believes he has an explosive and controversial surprise that would ensure victory. Can he convince the team to go along? Can the potential fallout be contained? (the 1993 documentary, The War Room is a good model.)

Seeking:

Chris: 24-28 The boy-wonder campaign manager for Gene Johnson. Young, but seasoned. From Brooklyn and grew up around local politics. While other kids had lemonade stands, Chris canvassed voters. Confident, smart, opinionated, focused, a natural leader. But Chris can be myopic and his loyalties and determination can get him into trouble.

George: 30-35 A Johnson campaign staffer, formerly in marketing. Chris's right-hand man. A natural people person, thoughtful, even-keeled, and practical. From Ohio and new to politics.

Ted: 45-60 A union leader from Brooklyn. Blue-coller, warm but blunt, resourceful and street smart. Ted cares about Chris and George.

Kate: 22-28 Chris' girlfriend who does not come from a political world. She is loyal and supportive of Chris but wishes he could be more attentive. She is sarcastic, quick, and sweet.

Dan: 18-21 A college student campaign volunteer. Dan is a little bit of a space cadet. He looks up to Chris and George. What he lacks in practical skills he makes up with enthusiasm and is excited to be a part of the campaign. Dan is quirky, smart, and innocent.

John: 38 46 A campaign volunteer with a wife and family who works on Wall Street. He's achieved a lot of personal success yet cares about his neighborhood and the bigger picture. He is down to earth and is happy to help.
