Equity actors for roles in a two-week workshop of MISS MAYBELLINE’S NOCTURNAL FLIGHTS OF FANCY (see breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short monologue (2 minutes) from a contemporary play.

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room can accommodate no more than 10 individuals at a time.

The holding room can accommodate no more than 30 individuals at a time.

Seeking:

Miss Maybelline: 100 years old, Black, ancient, spry, a griot/storyteller - THIS ROLE IS CAST.

Trey: 18+ to play a 14-year-old, Black, a sweet autistic teenager who is whip smart, talkative, and a bird watcher. Neurodivergent actors encouraged to audition.

Greta: mid-30’s - early 40’s, Black, Trey’s mother, hardworking, single mom / Miss Maybelline’s mother in a flight of fancy.

Walter Bly, 50’s, Black, their neighbor, a musician, steady, good natured (hiding disappointment) Elaine: 40’s -60’s, White, energetic, optimistic, island resident / local bus driver.
