SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Walnut Street Theatre's 2026–2027 season (see breakdown). All roles will be understudied. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 3-minute audition using your choice of a short monologue, contrasting musical selections, or a combination of monologue and a musical cut. An accompanist will be provided. Please also bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Baylen — Male, late 30s–40s. A tough police detective in Chicago. Authoritative, no-nonsense.

Morris Dixon — Gary Essendine's (the lead) manager. Represents the serious side of Gary’s entourage.

Henry Lyppiatt — Pompous and wealthy producer. No-nonsense.

Joanna Lyppiatt — Exquisite and sultry, 30s. Full of self-assurance and charm. Married to Henry, but has a secret longing for Garry (the lead).

Monica Reed — 40s. Gary’s longtime and long-suffering secretary. Comedic.

Fred — 30 or younger. Young, smartly dressed valet for Garry. Pragmatic and loyal.

Roland Maule — Late 20s. A young earnest man. A nervous playwright with an obsession for Garry and a lack of social boundaries. Broad comedy.

Daphne Stillington — 24. Pretty. A starstruck debutante infatuated with Garry.

Miss Erikson — Thin, vague-looking Swedish housekeeper — jokingly described as a “spiritualist.” Character/comedic part.

Lady Saltburn — A majestic, rather effusive society woman. Character/comedic part.

COME FROM AWAY: THE MUSICAL

Diane and others: Female, 40s–60s. A traditional divorcee from Texas, terrified that her son may have been flying at the time of the attacks. When she finds out he's safe, she discovers a wilder, more carefree side. (Others: Crystal — the waitress in Gander; Brenda — the bar owner in Newfoundland’s wife.)

Bonnie and others: Female, 30s–40s. Any ethnicity. A no-nonsense mother of three; head of the Gander area SPCA. (Others: Martha — pregnant, helpful Newfoundlander.)

Beulah and others: Female, 40s–60s. The head of the Gander Legion, with a firefighter son. (Others: Delores — a stressed plane person who later sings karaoke.)

Janice and others: Female, late 20s+. An eager new local TV reporter, thrown into the deep end on her first day. (Others: Britney — helpful Walmart employee in Gander; Flight Attendant.)

Beverly and others: Female, 40s. The first female captain for American Airlines, Beverly Bass — strong belt. (Others: Annette — local teacher and librarian at the Gander Academy.)

Hannah and others: Black female, 40s–60s. The mother of a firefighter in Manhattan. (Others: Margie — Newfoundlander friend; Mickey — bus driver in Gander.)

Claude and others: Male, 40s–60s. Gruff, natural Baritone. The gregarious and well-liked Mayor of Gander. (Others: Derm — Mayor of Appleton; Brenda’s Brother; Eddie — another Newfoundlander.)

Oz and others: Male, 30s–50s. Strong tenor vocals. The quirky constable in the two-person Gander police force. (Others: Joey — plane person; Customs Officer Mr. Michael; Terry — bus driver; Matty — bar owner; Rabbi; Cardiologist.)

Nick and others: Male, 40s–60s. Baritone. An English oil engineer whose life is turned upside down when he falls for Diane. (Others: Doug — air traffic controller.)

Kevin T. and others: Caucasian male, 30+. Tenor. Head of an environmental energy company in Los Angeles, stranded in Gander. (Others: Garth — head of the local union; President Bush.)

Kevin J. and others: Middle Eastern male, late 20s–30s. Bari-tenor. Kevin T.’s boyfriend and secretary. Sarcastic and unhappy, eager to leave; the events of September 11 make him reassess his life. (Others: Ali — a Muslim from Egypt; Dwight — Newfoundlander.)

Bob and others: Black male, 20s–35. Baritenor. A hardened New Yorker who fears the worst but ultimately sheds his jadedness. (Others: Muhumuza — a husband and father; Captain Bristol — pilot.)
