Breakdown

MRS. STONE
Caucasian female, 60 - 80. A conservative Kansas City matriarch who’s spent most of her life devotedly guarding her family’s image. Generally well-mannered and genteel but also able to let her guard down and show her true colors.

DANIEL STONE
Caucasian male, 25 - 45. A gay newspaper journalist who grew up in Kansas City and moved back after being educated in Germany and New York City. Smart, excitable, passionate, deeply in love with his ill partner, and articulate to a fault. Capable of searing repartee.

JENNY STONE
Caucasian female, 28 - 45. A dental hygienist in Kansas City, who has never lived anywhere else. Recently divorced. Idiosyncratic and occasionally lacking in self-awareness. She’s funny without meaning to be.

MARTHA/RICKY
African-American female, 35 - 65. One female actor plays two roles: Martha is the live-in caretaker for Mrs. Stone, a Kansas City matriarch crippled by a severe stroke. Ricky is a Lebanese-American banker.
