$600 weekly minimum (LOA ref. LORT)

Every hour over 30 hours per week will be paid at $18/hour; includes pension & health. Special expenses (i.e., transportation) are open for negotiation for actors who self identify as physically disabled.

Please prepare a brief cut of a monologue from a historical or dramatic Shakespeare play in verse. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

SEEKING:

HENRY IV (Man, Open Ethnicity, 65+) King of England, usurper of Richard II, father of Hal and Lancaster, formerly charismatic, judgmental, regretful, fearful, dies at end of play.

TRACK 1: Hotspur/John of Lancaster (Man, Open Ethnicity, 28-35) Hotspur: Son of Northumberland, husband of Lady Percy, fiery tempered, egotistical, single-minded, cold, excellent fighter and knows it. John of Lancaster: Son of Henry IV, younger brother of Hal, loyal, supportive, knows his place.

TRACK 2: Northumberland/Lord Chief Justice (Man, Open Ethnicity, 50+) Northumberland: Earl of England, father of Hotspur, betrays Henry IV, a leader, wealthy, powerful, tactical, proud. Lord Chief Justice: Loyal to Henry IV, upholder of the law, inflexible, antagonist to Hal and later a supporter when he becomes king (Henry V).

TRACK 3: Poins/Mortimer (Woman, Open Ethnicity, 25-30) Poins: Friend and loyal to Hal, smart, wily, money-hungry, trickster, and wears pants. Mortimer: Younger sister of Lady Percy, sister-in-law to Hotspur, captive and later friend of Owen Glendower, tough, loyal to her family.

TRACK 4: Walter Blount/Pistol (Open Gender, Open Ethnicity, 35+) Walter Blount: Knight, solid, supporter of Henry IV. Pistol: Comrade of Falstaff, conniving, self-reliant, lower class, part of Boar’s Head Tavern gang.

TRACK 5: Owen Glendower/Westmorland (Open Gender, Open Ethnicity, 40+) Owen Glendower: Welsh, wealthy landowner, passionate, commanding, fighter, loyal to family. Westmorland: Earl of England, loyal to Henry IV, statesman, strategist, yet sympathetic to the rebels. Speaks with Welsh accent.

TRACK 6: Lady Percy/Bardolph (Woman, Open Ethnicity, 28-35) Lady Percy: Wife of Hotspur, daughter-in-law of Northumberland, forthright, intelligent, passionate. Bardolph: Sidekick of Falstaff, lower class, uneducated, dim witted, loyal.

TRACK 7: Mistress Quickly/Worcester (Woman, Open Ethnicity, 50+) Mistress Quickly: Proprietor of Boar’s Head Tavern, has a head for business, tough with her customers, in love with Falstaff who takes advantage of her. Worcester: Earl of England, sister of Northumberland, aunt of Hotspur, leader of rebellion against Henry IV, strong-minded, forthright.

SIR JOHN FALSTAFF: CAST (Man, Open Ethnicity, 65+) Knight, glutton, thief, extremely loving but always looks out for himself first.

HAL: CAST [Man, Open Ethnicity, 28-35) Prince of Wales, son to Henry IV (Bolingbroke), charismatic, cerebral, smart, loyal, passionate.
