Lunch from 1 - 2

Please prepare one of the following: 1) a brief contemporary comedic monologue; 2) a brief country/bluegrass song; or 3) a brief contemporary musical theatre song; or 4) A one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a country/bluegrass or contemporary musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. If you are a musician auditioning for COTTON PATCH GOSPEL, you may prepare a brief bluegrass/country song and accompany yourself on guitar, banjo, or mandolin, dobro, fiddle, or bass fiddle.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Male, mid-20s-mid 40s. Strong bluegrass/country singer, actor and musician. Must play either fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, or bass fiddle. Clogging a plus.

JIM

Male, mid 20s-mid 30s. Also plays Jesus. Honest, compassionate actor who is a strong singer and musician. Must play either fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, or bass fiddle. Clogging a plus.

Male, late 20s-early 40s. A narrator character based loosely on the historical figure Che Guevara. Excellent actor/singer baritenor to high C. An actor with strong physical presence, dark and brooding.

JUAN PERON

Male, 40s-50s. The dictator of Argentina. Excellent singer/actor with a strong legit baritone to G. Commanding physical presence, very charismatic.

PERON’S MISTRESS

Female, late teens-mid 20s. Pretty and petite. High mix/soprano with a pop feel.

MAGALDI

Strong character actor/singer (tenor or baritenor to G). Must be attractive and full of machismo.

35 to 45, Tenor, low A to high B. Ages from mid-thirties to early fifties over the course of the play. Must have extraordinary dynamic range from soft falsetto to strong, high belt. Intelligent, honest, passionate performer with innate moral strength.

JAVERT

35 to 50s, Baritone, low F to F-sharp. Ages 17 years from mid-thirties to early fifties. Strong dramatic actor with a powerful onstage presence.

COSETTE

20s, Soprano, B-flat (below Middle C) to High C with belt, must be able to float a B-flat, but not operatic. Beautiful, innocent, but strong-willed.

MARIUS

25-30s, Tenor or High Lyric Baritone, low A to high A flat. Good looking romantic hero.

EPONINE

20s, Mezzo Belt (low F-sharp to E). Rough, unrefined but with a truly selfless soul.

THENARDIER

40s-50s, Baritone (C to high G-flat). Innately funny, selfish and conniving innkeeper turned con man/thief. The audience can’t help but love him.

MADAME THENARDIER

40s -50s, Alto / Mezzo Belt (low G-sharp to D). Large, robust, matriarch of the streets.

ENJOLRAS

20s -30s, Baritone / tenor (low A to high Ab). Charismatic with fierce dedication. Intellectually and physically a leader.
