SEE PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS IN BREAKDOWN. Tapes should be submitted via a link to YOUTUBE or VIMEO. Unfortunately at this time, we are not able to take individual file attachments. Your submissions must be sent as a link to a site that is stream ready. We are not able to accept WeTransfer or downloadable files at this time. A link to Google Drive is okay, but not preferred, PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK PRIVACY/SECURITY SETTINGS. Please submit by with subject EPA submission

BREAKDOWN

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Please prepare two pieces of your choice not to exceed three minutes (classical and/or contemporary). 32 bars of a song may be substituted for one of the pieces. If you don't have access to accompaniment, you may use the accompaniment for Somewhere Over the Rainbow provided at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XlaweIHaj1H8b7e-cO9EUYEfEayr_OQDJLlRis5lnU0/edit?usp=sharing. No a cappella, please. Notes for taping: Waist up or full body framing. If taping with a cell phone, please use LANDSCAPE (horizontal, not vertical). Please include headshot/resume in one PDF. If you have extensive or recent history with theater, headshot/resume submission is sufficient.

A re-imagining of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM in collaboration with community arts partners
Co-creative faciltators: Cruz Gonzalez-Cadel, Cage Sebastian Pierre, Paige Whitson-Martini

In addition to two possible previews, performances run 8/24, 8/26, 8/28, 8/31, 9/2, 9/4
Rehearsals will be morning/evenings during the week and morning/afternoons on weekends

Seeking: a dynamic five-person acting ensemble to play multiple roles in a multidisciplinary, multilingual spin on A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM in close collaboration with six community artists/arts groups. Seeking all ages, genders, ethnicities and abilities. This is more community outreach than acting in a production of MIDSUMMER proper. A collaborative spirit, sense of play, and passion for ensemble-based theatre processes are a must!

A musical adaptation of the Shakespeare play, with Shakespeare text and music by the Beatles.

CHARACTERS: (NOTE; ALL characters must sing well)

JAQUES --Any gender. BIPOC. 40s to 60s. Melancholy with a full cynical of wit. An outsider. Must be excellent with text.--seeking role and understudy

SILVIUS/ENSEMBLE (he/him) Any ethnicities. -A young, suffering shepherd, who is desperately in love with the disdainful Phoebe.-must be excellent in piano, guitar helpful--seeking role and understudy

ROSALIND- (she/her). BIPOC. 20s to 30s (ALREADY CAST)--must have command of Shakespeare and sing very well--seeking understudy

CELIA (she/her) BIPOC. early 20s to 30s (ALREADY CAST)--must have command of Shakespeare and sing very well)--seeking understudy

SEEKING:
ACTOR 1 (she/her) ELLEN FIELDS (Late 20s to early 30s). BIPOC. Despite her outward appearance as the beautiful and charming girl-next-door found in most 50’s films, Ellen has a strength and an edge that breaks the mold on several occasions.

ACTOR 2 (she/her or GNC)—
MAIZIE (elderly); a sweet old woman, often found gossiping or offering neighbors some of her world famous peanut brittle.
THALGORIAN-X; the mighty warrior of the alien race.
SMITTY (middle-aged); a bartender.
ALIEN-JANE; an alien in disguise.

ACTOR 3 (she/her or GNC)—
HECKIE (40’s, male); a smarmy small-town reporter.
GROMMULEX; the leader of the alien race.
BUSYBODY (elderly); a passing busybody.

ACTOR 4 (he /him) JOHN PUTNAM (30’s); a scientist from the big city who sticks out like a sore thumb in the small town of Sand Rock; he means well, even if he does come off as a bit condescending in his professorial manner. Classic musical theater baritone or tenor.

ACTOR 5 (he/him or GNC)
SHERIFF MATT WARREN (early 30’s); Tough as nails, even if he rarely speaks above a mumble; he’ll protect his friends and neighbors whatever the cost.
GEORGE (teen); coke-bottle glasses wearing teen, dreaming of life in the big city.
PRAKAXIAS; the research officer of the alien race.

ACTOR 6 (he/him or GNC)
BORNEY (30’s); a small-town deputy; the Arizona version of Barney Fife from The Andy Griffith show.
FRANK (elderly); sometimes prone to poetic streams of consciousness, Frank has been Sand Rock’s repairman for as long as anyone can remember.
CORAL (middle-aged, female); a chain-smoking barfly.
ALIEN-JIMMY; an alien in disguise.
