ABOUT THE PROJECT
Local Listens is our annual community-inspired new play initiative. We gather out community in story circles that will inspire new plays with a new topic each year.
In fall 2025, Colorado LGBTQ+ individuals, allies and the community will come together for facilitated community story circles (learn how to join below). Your stories will inspire commissioned playwrights who will write two 45-minute plays that will be presented April 30 and May 1, 2026
Local Listens: Queer Lineage is supported in part by the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, the Alex Wilson Fund, and Cassandra Simon.
Thursday, April 30 at 7:30pm The Bug Theatre 3654 Navajo St, Denver, CO 80211
Friday, May 1 at 7:30pm The Dairy Arts Center 2590 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80302
Here, our playwrights share two short plays (45-60 minutes each) inspired by the stories of our LGBTQ+ community. This staged reading is part of the new play cycle - from spark of inspiration, to development, to staged reading where you, our community, can participate in the process.
Following the reading, we will host a facilitated conversation on the themes and topics expressed in the plays.
