CMDance presents the 2023 Denver Jazz Festival, running three nights from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17 at The Studio Loft at Ellie Caulkins Opera House, 980 14th St., Denver, CO 80204.

This one-of-a-kind vintage festival focuses primarily on vintage jazz and blues of the 1920’s, 1930’s & 1940’s. The venue features a spacious dance floor, and there are workshops, classes and lectures available from internationally renowned instructors during the daytime hours through our sister events Lindy on the Rocks & Hot Night Fusion Weekend.

This year features NeoDance Stories Immersive Show on Sunday, September 17 at 6 p.m., showcasing Argentine Tango, Zouk, Bachata, Bolero Ariel Performance, Chunking, and more. Featuring flutist Nestor Torres and original music for Tango and Latin Fusion. This is a one-time showing of all original music by Nestor Torres accompanied by Tango and Latin Dance Fusion.

NeoDance is the creation of choreographer, dancer, and Holocaust survivor Alfred Friedman and critically acclaimed Latin Grammy winner Nestor Torres.

NeoDance tells the story about the relationship between talent and passion, overcoming life’s greatest challenges, seizing opportunities and taking them to the next level. It is also a story about creating an impressive body of original work by following the path of dreams fanned by a true love of music and dance. 

Alfred Friedman better known in dancing circles as Mr. Dance, has been an acclaimed dancer, choreographer and dance instructor for over 50 years. His notoriety, which is rooted in his versatility and multi-dimensional approach as a dancer, inspired him to fuse Tango and Nuevo Tango with different dance and music genres, to create NeoDance, an alchemy of steps and moves with music artistically crafted to bring out creativity from within the dancer.

Nestor Torres is a Grammy nominated and Latin Grammy winning artist who has released 18 critically acclaimed albums with his innovative blend of jazz, classical, and Latin music, punctuated by lyrical improvisation and rhythmic beats.
