Storybook Ballet is a children's ballet school in the Hilldale Mall at 726 N Midvale Blvd, Suite B20, Madison, Wisconsin, and has been teaching for 26 years. It works exclusively with children aged 2 to 10 and specializes entirely in classical ballet fundamentals. For ages 3 to 6, classes are built around fairytales and children's literature, with dancers wearing the studio's handmade costumes as they take on storybook characters; from about age 6 to 10 the narrative gives way to pure classical technique. Every class is taught by two professional instructors, and costumes are supplied at no extra charge. The school avoids competitions, commercial productions and recitals in favour of a pressure-free classroom, and offers summer sessions and three-day themed camps.
The Dancing Wheels Company will bring to the stage the world premiere of Puff the Magic Dragon! The storybook ballet was choreographed and reenvisioned by Robert Wesner, who had previously choreographed several full-length works for Dancing Wheels.
