About this studio
BalletX is Philadelphia's premier contemporary ballet company, a 501(c)(3) non-profit based at 1923 Washington Avenue, celebrating its 20th anniversary season. Founded and led by artistic director Christine Cox, the company commissions and premieres new work, presenting a home season of Fall, Spring and Summer Series at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre plus a Festival at the Highmark Mann Center, alongside national touring. It employs its dancers on year-round salaries and supports emerging choreographers through a Choreographic Fellowship. BalletX is not a community dance school: its education work consists of Dance eXchange, which places BalletX teaching artists in Philadelphia public schools, and audition-based Summer and Winter Intensives for pre-professional dancers looking to advance their technique and artistry. Its repertory is also available to stream on demand through BalletX Beyond.
