It's fitting that the weather on opening night of ANNIE as Bass Hall was gloomy and quite wet. Despite the redundant anthem boasting 'the sun'll come out tomorrow,' the quality of the current tour didn't seem so bright. With generally unremarkable performances across the board, any themes of hope or optimism felt anything but inspiring.

Special Concert Benefiting Derek Whitener To Be Held at Theatre Three

Theatre Three will host a special, one-night-only benefit concert to raise money to offset medical expenses for local theatre artist Derek Whitener. The concert will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 7:30 PM on Theatre Three's Norma Young Arena Stage. Tickets are free, but a cash donation is suggested. All donations will go directly to Derek Whitener and his family to pay for medical expenses and loss of income. Theatre Three is located in The Quadrangle, 2800 Routh Street, Suite 168, Dallas, TX 75201.

Dallas Theater Center announced today $68,660 was presented to the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) following the run of DTC's production of A Christmas Carol. For nine consecutive years, DTC has partnered with NTFB to collect donations and canned goods during performances of A Christmas Carol.

From January 21st through January 23rd, the students of Richland High School's Fine Arts Department will present the musical GODSPELL by Stephen Schwartz (WICKED, PIPPIN). Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, GODSPELL is the musical tale of a group of people who work with Jesus to build a strong community. Through storytelling, games and comedic vignettes, the playful story and eclectic score demonstrates key moments of Jesus' life, leading the audience to find hope past the Crucifixion. Featuring the international hit, 'Day by Day,' Godspell features a series of well-known songs, including 'Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,' 'Learn Your Lessons Well,' 'All for the Best,' 'All Good Gifts,' 'Turn Back, O Man' and 'By My Side.'
