The Orange County Performing Arts Center's annual Summer at the Center program benefiting at-risk and underserved youths returns for its 18th year July 20 - August 1. The program helps young people build critical life skills by engaging them in the performing arts, utilizing specially designed intensive music and theater workshops to empower students to overcome adversity in their lives, build self-esteem and develop social skills.

THE FIRST NATIONAL TOUR OF LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL will begin performances at the Orange County Performing Arts Center on September 8. LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn't take 'no' for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more 'serious,' Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

South Coast Repertory will present The Brand New Kid, a musical lesson in tolerance and acceptance, adapted from Emmy Award-winning author Katie Couric's book, as part of its Theatre for Young Audience (TYA) series. Directed by Shelley Butler, with book by Melanie Marnich, music by Michael Friedman and lyrics by both, The Brand New Kid will run May 29 through June 14 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available May 29 - June 5. Opening day is June 6. Press performance is May 31 at 2:00 p.m. All children who attend the 11:00 a.m. Target Family Performance on Saturday, June 6 will receive a free gift. The record breaking National Tour of Monty Python's SPAMALOT, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will close in Costa Mesa CA on October 18th. The musical's tour will have played 1408 performances over 101 separate engagements throughout North America, to an audience estimated at nearly 3.6 million people.

Tony®-winning Broadway hits and blockbuster musical productions pack the Orange County Performing Arts Center?s 2009-2010 Broadway and Curtain Call Series, which are complimented by a line-up of bonus events. Audiences will enjoy Tony Award-winning shows and six Center premieres in a season that holds something for everyone. The Broadway Series includes Monty Python?s Spamalot starring John O?Hurley (October 6 ? 18, 2009); eight-time Tony Award-winning Spring Awakening (November 17 ? 29, 2009); ?80s flashback Xanadu (December 15 ? 27, 2009); a reenvisioned mounting of the Academy® Award-winning Dreamgirls (April 20 ? May 2, 2010); the 2008 Tony Award-winning Best Musical In the Heights (August 3 ? 15, 2010); and Mel Brooks? stage incarnation of his classic film, Young Frankenstein (September 7 ? 19, 2010). Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg's Our Mother's Brief Affair will receive its World Premiere at South Coast Repertory as part of the theater's 12th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival. Commissioned by SCR and directed by Pam MacKinnon, Our Mother's Brief Affair will run April 3 through May 3, 2009 on the Segerstrom Stage. South Coast Repertory?s final NewSCRipts reading of the 2008-09 season will be The Happy Ones by Julie Marie Myatt. Directed by Oanh Nguyen and commissioned by SCR, The Happy Ones is the 108th play to receive a staged reading as part of SCR?s venerable play reading program. Myatt?s My Wandering Boy received its World Premiere production at SCR in 2007 as part of the Pacific Playwrights Festival. The NewSCRipts reading of The Happy Ones will take place on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. on the Julianne Argyros Stage.
