The North American Tour of SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical celebrated its official tour press opening last night in Cleveland, OH at Playhouse Square, following technical rehearsals and tour kickoff performances at RBTL's Auditorium Theater in Rochester, NY. The musical plays in Cleveland through October 27 and will next travel to the Hollywood Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA for an engagement November 5-24. The three actresses that share the role of musical icon Donna Summer, Dan'yelle Williamson as a?oeDiva Donna,a?? Alex Hairston as a?oeDisco Donnaa?? and Olivia Elease Hardy as a?oeDuckling Donna,a?? were presented with bouquets of white roses during Curtain Call and met Mimi Dohler, Donna Summer's daughter.

This orchestral exploration mixes dark, powerful arrangements of macabre classical masterpieces by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns and more with the fury of a rock band and string orchestra. Verb Ballets will make a guest appearance, building on the inventive collaboration from the summer, to bring rock and ballet together on stage. Zaza will enthrall audiences on a musical journey with a visually impressive stage set, light show and multi-media screens to tell the evil tale of the monster within.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) will commence its 2019-20 season at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square with a Fall Repertory that features the Tony-winning Broadway musical classic, The Music Man and Shakespeare's epic political tragedy, Julius Caesar. The productions will be performed in rotating repertory September 27 – November 10, 2019. Victoria Bussert will direct The Music Man and Julius Caesar will be directed by Sara Bruner. We are in the midst of 'The Music Man' blizzard. In the last year, Porthouse Theatre and The Shaw Festival have done the show, and a Broadway production starring Hugh Jackman as Harold Hill, will begin performances on October 15, 2020. Two-time Tony Award-winning superstar, Sutton Foster, will co-star as Marian the librarian. The production will be directed by four-time Tony Award winner, Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle.

The Cleveland Orchestra recently commissioned a study by research firm Kleinhenz & Associates and Case Western Reserve University to examine its economic and social impact on the local and regional areas the ensemble calls home. Driven by a commitment to enrich lives by creating extraordinary musical experiences at the highest level, The Cleveland Orchestra continues to foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and artistic innovation.  The economic study, conducted during the Orchestra's Fiscal Year 2017-18 Centennial Season, analyzes the financial influence this renowned institution has on Northeast Ohio.  Focusing on a variety of factors, including performances held at Severance Hall and summer concerts at Blossom Music Center a?" both classical programming by the Orchestra and rock shows presented by Live Nation a?" the study concludes that The Cleveland Orchestra is responsible for generating $135.4 million of annual sales across Northeast Ohio's seven-county region.
