The Master and Margarita at Strawdog Theatre

1930’s Moscow. Stalinism reigns and the playwright known as The Master is desperately fighting theatre critics and government censors to get his script about Jesus and Pontius Pilate produced. Into this picture steps Professor Woland, a “specialist in black magic” with an entourage of demons and a talking cat, to set Moscow on its ear with a party of the damned. Strawdog is excited as (ahem) hell to have Timeline Theatre associate artist Louis Contey (Awake and Sing!, Copenhagen) bringing this wild masterpiece of Russian Literature to our stage.
