Maxwell Anderson’s comedy Saturday’s Children had its Broadway debut at the Booth Theatre in New York City on January 26, 1927 and had a healthy run of 310 performances. It featured actors Ruth Gordon, Beulah Bondi and Humphrey Bogart. With beautifully written dialogue and complex characters, Saturday’s Children, set in Manhattan, explores themes of love, ambition, and societal pressure not unlike what young couples encounter today in 2023.
