Prince Hal is a World Premiere written and directed by Ensemble Member J. Nicole Brooks. The play traces the journey of Harold Washington, a pioneering politician and lawyer who becomes a reluctant candidate to become Chicago's first Black mayor. Rather than relying on traditional political stomping grounds, Washington makes deep connections with everyday Chicagoans, including an unlikely group of regulars at a local West Side tavern. The production is the second in a planned trilogy about Chicago mayors from the writer/director of Her Honor, Jane Byrne.
