Chicago Opera Theater presents the North American premiere of Leonora, a classical Italian opera composed by Ferdinando Paër. Starring internationally renowned tenor Edgardo Rocha in his Chicago debut and soprano Vanessa Becerra as Leonora, the production explores the story of a young woman disguising herself as a man to rescue her wrongfully imprisoned husband. Conducted by Dame Jane Glover and directed by Lawrence Edelson, this engaging performance coincides with Lyric Opera's presentation of Beethoven’s Fidelio, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience two interpretations of the same libretto. The run takes place at the Studebaker Theater from October 1 to October 6, 2024.
