Roger Hodgson Makes Ravinia Debut, 8/23

By:

Ravinia Festival today announced that Roger Hodgson, co-founder and lead singer of progressive rock band Supertramp, will make his Ravinia debut at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23 as part of his Breakfast in America tour. Tickets for this concert and all other shows during the 2012 summer season go on sale March 8 to festival donors and to the public exclusively online on April 26 at Ravinia.org

As the voice, writer and arranger of Supertramp’s greatest hits such as “Give a Little Bit,” “Dreamer,” “It's Raining Again,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “The Logical Song,” “Breakfast In America,” and “Fool’s Overture,” Hodgson led the band that sold more than 60 million records. In 1979 Breakfast in America sold over 20 million copies, making it the top- selling album worldwide. Hodgson continued on a solo career, releasing four albums including his most recent, Classics Live. In 2005 he was honored by ASCAP in recognition of his song Give A Little Bit for being the most performed song in the ASCAP repertory. In 2007 he received an additional ASCAP honor for his song Breakfast in America. This song was put back on the charts in 2006 when it was covered by American band Gym Class Heroes.

A full list of summer events will be announced on March 8. Ravinia welcomes all festival fans to follow, connect and interact online at backstage.ravinia.org, facebook.com (search Ravinia Festival) and twitter.com/raviniafestival. Ravinia Festival is a not-for-profit organization.
