Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation Dept Seeks Teaching Artists

Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation is looking for independent teaching artists or programs provided by local arts and cultural organizations for its Senior Cultural Arts Programs & Events. Specifically, they are looking for instructors for:

Heritage Arts - basket weaving, needlework, china painting, crocheting, hooked rugs, jewelry, knitting, needlework, pottery, woodworking, ceramics, quilting, etc.

Visual Arts- acrylics, drawings, mixed media, oil, pastels, photography, and sculptures, watercolor

Literary Arts- Essay, Poem, Short Story, Life Experience

Performing Arts- drama, dance, instrumental, vocal, cheerleading, line dancing, comedy, etc.

Instructors will be working in:

Meck Senior Silver Arts Workshops
This project opportunity is designed for adults ages 50 and older to assist in developing their talents and skills in Heritage Arts, i.e., Visual Arts, Literary Arts and Performing Arts for competition in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games Silver Arts on the third (3rd)Tuesday, monthly at the Ivory Baker Recreation Center from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Meck Seniors Dance and More...
This program is designed for the senior adult, ages 50 and older to learn safe and healthy ways to enjoy life at its fullest through the art of dance in various styles and creativity. The aim is to promote healthy lifestyles, physically, socially, emotionally and develop talents/skills for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Silver/Performing Arts one Friday a month at the Wallace Pruitt Recreation Center from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
