Telemundo Up 13% in Adults 18-49 in 2013

Telemundo Media is on track to become the fastest growing broadcast network, regardless of language, in 2013, with a year-over-year growth of +13% (742,000 vs. 659,000) among adults 18-49 in Monday-Sunday primetime, according to Nielsen. Telemundo will deliver its best Primetime results since being measured in the national people meter sample among total viewers (1,419,000 vs. 1,265,000), up +12% and adults 18-49, which garnered its highest share of 27%. This marks the third consecutive year Telemundo has grown year-over-year among total viewers and adults 18-49, while Univision and UniMas have both declined compared to the prior year. The network's trailblazing performance was fueled by its record number of regularly scheduled Primetime programs that averaged more than one million adults 18-49, such as the blockbuster novelas "El Señor de los Cielos," "La Patrona" and "Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal" and the highly acclaimed singing competition "La Voz Kids."

ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMING

In entertainment programming, the network's #1 novela in 2013 was "El Señor de los Cielos," delivering 1.62 million adults 18-49 and making it the second-highest rated novela regardless of time period in Telemundo history. The series ranked #1 with adults 18-34, regardless of language, a quarter of the time in the 10pm hour. "El Señor de los Cielos" also beat at least one of the English-language broadcast networks among adults 18-34 nearly every night and 76% of the time among adults 18-49. Additionally, the series outperformed Univision to rank #1 with adults 18-34 among Spanish-language broadcasters almost half of the nights since its premiere.

"La Patrona" was Telemundo's #1 novela at 9pm, delivering 1.13 million adults 18-49, and beat at least one of the top four English-language broadcast networks in the 9pm hour nearly 40% of the time (47 nights) during its run. "Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal" averaged 1.06 million adults 18-49.

The network's highly-rated singing competition "La Voz Kids" raked in 1.24 million adults 18-49, making it the highest-rated reality series in Telemundo history.

Telemundo was home to the highest-rated movies on Spanish-language broadcast television in 2013, airing the top 13 movies in Primetime among adults 18-49. Additionally, Telemundo aired the top 15 movies on Spanish-language television among total viewers.

SPORTS

In 2013, Telemundo's "Rumbo al Mundial" Soccer World Cup Qualifier match (Costa Rica vs. Mexico) on Tuesday, October 15, averaged 4.63 million total viewers and 1.75 million men 18-49, making it the #1 sporting event on Spanish-language broadcast television for the year.

In addition, Telemundo's "Rumbo al Mundial" Soccer World Cup Qualifier games (Jamaica vs. Mexico match on Tuesday, June 4, and Panama vs. Mexico game on Friday, June 7) were the #1 sporting events on television for the night - broadcast or cable - regardless of language among adults 18-49.

Deportes Telemundo's "Fútbol Estelar" broadcast match between León and América on Thursday, December 12 was the highest-rated Liga MX match for Telemundo in 2013 among total viewers (2.8 million) and adults 18-49 (nearly 1.7 million).

"Titulares y Mas" made history on Telemundo this year, expanding to Monday to Friday, becoming the first sports and entertainment show ever to be broadcast five days a week on Telemundo. The show has been one of Deportes Telemundo's most successful shows of the past decade and it achieved +22% growth in total viewers in 2013 compared to the previous year.

"Ritmo Deportivo" found a new home on Saturday afternoons in 2013 and grew +80% in total viewers compared to its performance earlier this year on Sundays. The show ends 2013 on a high note, delivering its strongest performance to date this year on December 7, with 673,000 total viewers.

DIGITAL

On the digital front, Telemundo Now has been one of the "Best New Apps" on iTunes since September 19, and a "Noteworthy" app since August 9. According to a 2013 NBC Digital study, Telemundo viewers have one of the highest awareness rates (51% aware) of the TV Everywhere authentication process. Among the NBC networks, Telemundo viewers had the highest authentication success rate (52%) using one's own username and password.

Telemundo.com has experienced double-digit growth (growing by +36% in total uniques January-October 2013 vs. the same time period last year) while Univision.com has declined (-4% in total uniques). Telemundo.com is also the leader in video viewers and has impressive video engagement numbers which are significantly higher (110% more) than those of Univision.com, according to comScore.

In April, the Billboard Latin Music Awards helped rank Telemundo.com as the #1 broadcast network on the Top Daily TrendrrTV Broadcast Chart, out-delivering "Scandal" on ABC and "American Idol" on FOX by three times the number of social interactions (total of 794,746 social activities posted). In total, the Red Carpet and Awards shows generated over 1.2 million social interactions, +70% growth versus last year.
