Portland's food culture is famous for being casual, quirky and totally amazing. The street that Chuck visits is called Division, but the good food just keeps on multiplying. Despite the notorious rain, Chuck and every Portlander find sunshine every day in the form of a deep-fried Monte Cristo sandwich with an egg on top at chef Jenn Louis' Sunshine Tavern. At Sen Yai, chef Andy Ricker specializes in busting Americans' myths about Thai food with a quintessential Thai breakfast with jok, or rice porridge, and pork balls, crispy rice noodles, and a soft egg. George Martin, 79, is a Native American grandfather of the Ojibwe Nation and lives in Hopkins, Michigan. George teaches Mo Rocca how to make a big pot of corn soup, and Mo thinks he is going to have it easy in THE KITCHEN until he learns the first step in the recipe is to light a fire without a match. George teaches Mo that handy skill, along with many beautiful traditions of his people, and even a thing or two on the miniature golf course.

In the tradition of Hollywood's glitziest leading ladies, Thelma Brelesky, 90, of Waterford, Connecticut is ready for her close-up. Mo and Thelma prepare a true New England dish of jumbo shrimp stuffed with scallops and breadcrumbs. For dessert, Thelma shows Mo a bit of her Greek heritage by making traditional almond cookies called Kourabiedes. In addition to cooking, Thelma teaches Mo how to swing dance, and stars in her very own pantyhose commercial!

Grethe Petersen, 73, of Bloomington, Minnesota has been called the Julia Child of Danish cooking. Grandma Grethe, Mo and her family are hosting a delightful, multi-course luncheon at the Danish Center with traditional dishes of chicken soup with dumplings, different varieties of herring with curry and cream sauces, and for dessert, Aebleskiver, delicious pancake balls covered with sugar and dipped in strawberry sauce. Mo's newly learned Aebleskiver skills will be pitted against Grethe's grandkids in a sweet showdown.

Joenie Haas is an energetic, amiable grandmother who cooks delicious and comforting dishes, straight from her log cabin on Milles Lacs Lake in Minnesota. The food she makes is quite different from some of the things her son-in-law, Andrew Zimmern, is used to eating on his Travel Channel series Bizarre Foods. When coming home after one of his crazy culinary adventures, there is nothing Andrew likes more than to sit down with a plate of Joenie's tater tot hot dish. Joenie will introduce Mo to the art of the "hot dish," as well as a delicious jello salad and her traditional Christmas Jesus cake.

Aslaug Warmboe, 86, of Hastings, Minnesota is originally from Iceland, and on a recent trip to her homeland, she brought back some culinary specialties for Mo to taste. Mo samples traditional smoked lamb called hangikjot, and some pickled shark with a chaser of the national liquor, Brennivin. Aslaug also teaches Mo how to make creamed potatoes, and a brown bread that in Iceland is traditionally baked for over two days with the heat of a natural spring. His visit culminates with a lovely family dinner complete with some traditional Icelandic outfits.

Throughout the series, Tom visits some of his favorite suppliers, and he will visit some pubs in the country that are pushing the boundaries when it comes to food.

Tom Kerridge shares his secrets to cooking outdoor food with the same love and attention towards cooking in the kitchen. He pays homage to the retro classic Chicken in a Basket cooked with his Southern fried twist, and then heads to Cornwall to make a Fish Burger with freshly caught mackerel, pollack and lobster. Tom dishes up some EXTRA special sticky Barbecued Beef Ribs cooked in a barbecue sauce with a delicious Warm Tomato Salad, and sweetens things up with a delicious Maple Cake baked right on the barbecue.

Tom prepares a lazy Sunday brunch of Scrambled Eggs and English Truffle, and because Sundays are special he saves room for two puddings - a Lemon Posset and a Chocolate and Ale Cake.
