Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of American Lyric Theater, in conjunction with Darren K. Woods, General Director of Fort Worth Opera, announced today a collaboration between the two companies on JFK (working title), a new opera by the acclaimed team of composer David T. Little and librettist Royce Vavrek.

Toronto Operetta Theatre opens the 2013-2014 Season on Sunday, November 3 at 2 pm at the St. Lawrence Centre with THE SAUCY SEÑORITA, based on the zarzuela La Revoltosa by Ruperto Chapi. Premiering at the Apolo Theatre in Madrid in 1897, Chapi's scintillating score is one of the masterpieces of the género chico genre. TOT is the only company in Canada devoted to music theatre in all its variety and has been instrumental in raising the profile of this exciting Spanish facet of the music theatre art form. THE SAUCY SEÑORITA will be presented under the Honorary Patronage of Don Francisco Pascual de la Parte, Consul General of Spain in Toronto and the Club Hispano of Toronto.

Fort Worth Opera General Director Darren K. Woods today shared further details about the highly anticipated world premiere of the company's third commissioned opera, JFK (working title), by the sensational and highly acclaimed team of composer David T. Little and librettist Royce Vavrek. The opera, which serves as the crown jewel of Fort Worth Opera's (FWOpera's) 70th anniversary season in 2016, is the final work in three years of world premieres from the company that begin during the upcoming 2014 season. The world premiere production of JFK will take place at Fort Worth's renowned Bass Performance Hall on April 16, 2016.

The mad gypsies and love-sick troubadours of Verdi's imagination will come bristling to life at All Soul's Chapel at Good Samaritan Hospital downtown Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd at 3pm. Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2013-2014 season with a new production honoring the 200th birthday of Giuseppe Verdi, one of opera's most legendary composers: The Force of Destiny, tonight, October 12-26 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Verdi's epic romantic and political drama, which hasn't been seen in Washington in nearly 25 years, will be presented in a daring and visually striking new production directed by WNO Artistic Director Francesca Zambello. Conductor Xian Zhang, in her WNO debut, leads the WNO Orchestra in interpreting some of Verdi's most beautiful melodies.

As a special addition to the season, LA Opera presents a rare revival of the groundbreaking 1976 collaboration by Robert Wilson and Philip Glass. Universally hailed as one of the greatest artistic achievements of the 20th century, Einstein on the Beach breaks all rules of conventional opera. Non-narrative in form, the work uses a series of powerful recurrent images as its main dramatic device shown in juxtaposition with abstract dance sequences created by Lucinda Childs. The Los Angeles performances will be the final North American stop of the production's international tour.

A Portland Ovations' commission and world premiere which will bring to a close its current season, The Summer King is a new American opera by Maine-based composer Daniel Sonenberg, who co-wrote the libretto with poet Daniel Nester.
