Pedr Solis is partially based on 'The Tower,' a play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, and the life of Norwegian author Pedr Solis. In 1970, Solis's novel 'Stillaset' spills into his real life in Oslo.

Gates open at 5 p.m. for "pregame" activities for the entire family, and the opera will be broadcast live from the Kennedy Center Opera House to the high-definition NatsHD scoreboard at 7 p.m. Free seating will be available on the outfield grass and in the stands. - May 15, 2015 Before the opera premieres at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago this fall, Roulette is pleased to present selections from American composer George Lewis' Afterword: The AACM (As) Opera. Developed in collaboration with director Sean Griffin and media/theater artist Catherine Sullivan, Afterword is the aesthetic extension of Lewis' widely acclaimed book on the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, A Power Stronger Than Itself: the AACM and American Experimental Music (University of Chicago Press, 2008). Born on the South Side of Chicago and turning 50 this year, the AACM has played a major role in American experimental music, and its ardent experimentation and radical collectivist politics are the inspiration behind Lewis' first operatic venture.
