Sarasota Opera is proud to announce casting for the 2015-2016 fall and winter season, truly the most climactic in the company's 57 year history. The season will feature the final two installments of the 28 year Verdi Cycle – The Battle of Legnano and Aida- in a grand spectacle of music, vocal prowess, awe-inspiring choruses, sumptuous scenery, and luxurious costumes. In addition, the company will present Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, and Mozart's comedic Così fan tutte.

The Metropolitan Opera's exclusive subscription streaming service, Met Opera on Demand, has expanded its reach with the release of a new streaming channel on the Roku platform. Andreas Mitisek, General Director of Chicago Opera Theater (COT), today announced that the company has received a generous $1,500,000 gift from Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson. Their gift is the single largest contribution in the company's 42-year history. Neeson, who served as a COT board member for nine years and Vice President for three, and her husband, Stefan Edlis, have been COT subscribers and supporters for decades. In honor of and appreciation for this milestone contribution, COT's general director position will be renamed the 'Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director.'

Merola Opera to End Summer with Grand Finale Performance, 8/22

SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2015 – The Merola Opera Program's Summer Festival concludes with its 2015 artists performing in the Merola Grand Finale Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 pm at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. Conductor Antony Walker will lead the orchestra and 2015 Merola Apprentice Stage Director Mo Zhou will stage the program, featuring works by Gounod, Bellini, Tchaikovsky, Jake Heggie, Nikolai, Verdi, Rossini, Humperdinck, Mascagni, and Offenbach. The performance is a culmination of the 12-week Merola Opera training program, and all 23 of the 2015 Merola singers will perform, under the coaching and direction of their fellow artists. A special artists' reception follows the Grand Finale (tickets sold separately).

BOSTON, MA (July 20, 2015)—In their ninth season, Guerilla Opera will premiere two operas: Troubled Water by Mischa Salkind-Pearl and libretto by Frederick Choi in September 2015 and Beowulf by Hannah Lash in May 2016, as well as engage in an artistic residency with New Music Brandeis at Brandeis University in April 2016.
